The CCC party has won 22 of the 28 National Assembly seats. However, ZANU-PF has won two seats previously occupied by the opposition (Epworth and Mutasa South).

The MDC-T party led by Mwonzora lost as they failed to win any of the seats contested.

Zanu PF also retained its rural sets in Mberengwa South, Murewa South, Chivi South, Mwenezi East, Gokwe Central and Tsholotsho North.

The Glen Lorne house is also his mother’s residence. The armed men also attacked the security guard whose head, nose and hands were bandaged when he spoke to reporters.

“We wrestled for a while as they attacked me with axes,” he said.
Three were inside and one was outside. They had a gun. I started screaming and they ran away.”

Visual evidence shows that the intruders wanted to slay Biti’s security guard. The CCC announced that the incident happened at 12 am Zimbabwe time. Police are yet to comment on the incident.

CCC Secretary-General Chalton Hwende accused Zanu-PF of orchestrating the attack on Biti’s house.

“Hon Tendai Biti’s homestead was attacked last night, his security aide seriously injured. Zanu PF leaders are playing a very dangerous game, you don’t call for an election and start killing and maiming your opponents. The violence must stop!!” Hwende said.

A lot is happening in Tendai Biti’s life right now. There is political violence happening ahead of by-elections set to be held on the 26th of March where Biti is contesting in the Harare East constituency.

Last week, Zanu-PF members allegedly attacked CCC leader Nelson Chamisa’s supporters and disrupted a rally in Kwekwe. The suspects who have since been arrested used spears, machetes, stones and iron bars to assault the opposition supporters.

Biti is also facing allegations of assaulting a Russian national and controversial Kenneth Raydon Sharpe owned Pokugara Properties employee Tatiana Aleshina. It’s difficult, at first glance to ascertain what could have motivated the attack at Hon Tendai Biti’s house with so many elements at play from personal enemies to his court case.

According to the party’s spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere, the errant youths stoned cars were burning logs and assaulted members of the team some of which were hospitalised.

#BREAKING Over 200 youths mobilized by ZANU PF have violently attacked President Chamisa’s convoy & advance team on their way to meet community leaders in Masvingo. They stoned cars, barricaded roads with burning logs & assaulted members of our team who’ve now been hospitalized.

This political violence being meted out at President Nelson Chamisa’s delegation in Masvingo is cause for concern.

Barricading roads with burning logs & chanting hate speech is primitive politics.

The ruling party seems to have been shaken by the victory that took place earlier in Zambia. It didn’t make the situation easier that the opposition party and their supporters have been looking into how to implore the strategies from Zambia to  win the upcoming elections.

Various things have been tried, from Zanu PF pointing out to the similarities between themselves and Haikande Hichilema’s party to the president openly expressing his dislike for what took place in Zambia.

Now it seems to the Chamisa supporters that Zanu PF is trying by all means to thwart Chamisa. Former MDC member and one of the founders even stated to how Chamisa is a child that wont be able to handle the role of president.

This might have fuelled the hashtag #NgaapindeHakeMukomana.

Of course it did not end there. MDC supporters have said that Zanu PF is behind the letter stating that Chamisa could not use the party name CCC. HOnarable Job Sikhala shared a piece of his mind on that matter.

Honorable Sikhala has not stopped there. He has issued a stern warning to the ruling party saying:

“If this situation continues to throttle our democratic space, some of us will lose our temper very soon. Ndokuvharisirai chinyika chose ichi zvandandakuitirai gore rapera muna July. Rambai muchiita matoto iwaya.

We have a 14 pounds hammer strategy to punish ZANU PF for it’s evil deeds and sins against our people. They can do all the shenanigans, but be warned. You shall be punished you evil men and women. Zimbabwe is ready for new leadership, and truly the new leadership is coming.”

Christopher Chingosho, a former minister, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly calling the First Lady a “whore”. This is said to have taken place after the first lady held an event and did not invite the MP.

Not being invited to the event didn’t stop the MP from attending. The Standard reports that while at the event he didn’t hide his disappointment at not being invited. A Zanu PF official at the event stated that Chingosho called the first lady a whore for not inviting him.

He was arrested at the scene after complaints from Mnangagwa supporters. It is not yet clear what Chingosho is being charged for.

This is not the first time a high ranking official was caught up in a messy situation. Recently, a chief was caught up in a scandal involving boobs.

The ruling Zanu PF party on the other hand is now also claiming Hakainde Hichilema, in a post on one of their Facebook page named EDhasmyhope the ruling party says Hakainde Hichilema’s UPND party is similar to Zanu PF, than the outgoing Patriotic Front, the irony!

What Wamba Brigade,dont know is that historically and ideologically speaking, Lungu’s party is the real MDC of Zambia although both Lungu’s party and Hichilema’s UPND are splinter parties of Chiluba’s MMD, Hichilema’s party has the closest links with Kaunda’s UNIP as a lot of leaders who served under Kaunda joined hands with Hichilema’s party.

In 2006 for example, UNIP and other opposition parties fielded Hichilema as their presidential candidate. So UPND, the party of Hichilema, is the one that can be said to share historical and ideological similarities with Zanu PF.

However the major observation with Zambian politics if compared to politics in the rest of SADC, is that it is the only country alongside Malawi that have seen their founding independent ruling parties being dislodged from power several times. Kaunda first lost it to the party of Lungu, then led by Chiluba. At one time, albeit inside a coalition UNIP won back the power and lost it again when Lungu came to power. However the disappearance of UNIP from the Zambian political turf today can be attributed to the personalisation of leadership of the UNIP presidency to the Kaundas as KK’s son stuck to the helm of that party among many other reasons.

As for the second republic in Zimbabwe, those in the know are aware how Lungu tried to entertain the idea of militarily coming to the rescue of RG following the November 2017 transition in Zimbabwe. However he later abandoned the idea after noticing that the caucus for liberation war parties of Southern Africa were fully behind the coup that was not a coup depending on one’s persuasion.

Those rumours have now been addressed. Zanu PF has refuted claims that they were enforcing a new law banning miniskirts and trousers.

The fake messages had been issued out in the name of  Zanu PF acting national Political Commissar, Cde Patrick Chinamasa. However, in a statement to the Herald, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Cde Simon Khaya Moyo distanced the party from those claims. He said that investigations revealed that the message was circulated by a non-governmental organisation linked to  the opposition party.

Moyo affirmed that the party is in support of women’s rights. The  party even has a Women’s League which attends to matters relating to women’s rights. He even boasted that the party has been making significant strides in ensuring that women’s rights’ are not infringed on.

The name of the Zanu Pf youth in the video was discovered to be Bernard Chiteme. The name not sounding familiar? Let’s jog your memory a bit. Bernard Chiteme first appeared on our screens as a man with a stroked leg. He was seeking healing from Prophet Magaya and within a few minutes was healed. However, the video was later removed from the prophet’s page and speculations said that it was because Chiteme could not agree on a payment for his “church performance”.

Social media has now been lead to believe that Bernard Chiteme can do anything for a living. Which some have taken to mean that he might have been strategically placed there. By who? Nobody knows.

The president will be able to do the following as a result of the passing of  this bill:

1. Personally appoint judges thereby overriding the public voting system that lead to the appointment of judges.
2. Extend the terms of judges even if they’ve reached retirement age
3. Appoint his own deputies instead of utilising elected vice presidents
4. Elevate sitting judges to higher courts without passing them through public interviews

MDC conglomerates including Thokozani Khupe, Nomvula Mguni, Phelela Masuku, Livingstone Chimina, Patrick Dube, Joel Gabuza, Innocent Gonese, Shapespear Hamauswa, Norman Allan Markham, Phelela Masuku, Daniel Molokela, Edwin Mushoriwa, Stella Ndlovu, Jacob Nyokanhete, Tose Wesley Sansole, Trevor Saruwaka, Job Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole, Jane Nicola Watson, Jasmine Toffa, Illos Nyoni, and David Tekeshe have rejected this amendment. The general sentiment is that these changes are all centered around consolidating President Mnangagwa’s powers.

An appalled Tendai Biti shared the following sentiments with regards to this bill:

“We will fight this abomination. Emmerson’s disrespect of the constitution and total violation of decency and the rule of law sets him apart as the greatest existential threat to the Zimbabwe State. In three years, Zimbabwe has descended into a little outpost of fascism and state failure, thanks to politics of greed, violence, and idiocy.”

MDC-T Senator and Thokozani Khupe ally, Khaliphani Phugeni, posed a question with regards to the appointment of judges:

“What’s wrong about a judge who is going to preside over our matters to be publicly interviewed for all to be convinced that indeed this person is fit to hold the position that they seek?

In an effort to encourage Zimbabweans to get vaccinated , John Basera showcased his Covid-19 vaccination card on his twitter page. The picture of the vaccination card was accompanied by the motivational caption “If I did it! You Can.” Wondering if the post got the attention it was seeking? It certainly did! But, for the wrong reasons.

Permanent Secretary John Basera’s Covid-19 vaccination card very blatantly stated that he was 35 years of age. We’re not at all saying he is bluffing. Infact, there is absolutely no reason for us to believe that Basera would lie just for the sake of lying. There is no reason to believe that he would rig his age.
