The post Tagwirei Takes Over Rufaro Stadium? appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Rufaro Stadium was red-flagged by the ZIFA First Insurance Board in 2020 as it was no longer fit for use. Refurbishing the sports stadium to international standards is the core reason for the deal between Sakunda and the city council.
The deal also involves the rehabilitation of Belgravia Sports Club and its facilities for use by Dynamos for training purposes. Sakunda is the major sponsor for Dynamos and Highlanders and the deal will benefit DeMbare as the refurbished facility will be their home.
The refurbishments will include;
While this is a very good development, one cannot help but notice that Kudakwashe Tagwirei is really making a lot of financial moves. The commodities trader with extensive interests in the energy sector is the founder and current CEO of Sakunda Holdings Group, which has a controlling grip on critical sectors of the economy, from mining to real estate to agriculture and banking.
Sakunda Holdings has three distinct operating divisions namely Sakunda Energy, Sakunda Trading and Sakunda Logistics. The company also holds a virtual monopoly over fuel distribution in Zimbabwe. The new Rufaro Stadium deal shows that there are no limits and as long as one has money, they can literally do everything.

]]>The team features big names such as Tinotenda Kadewere, Marvellous Nakamba, Marshall Munetsi, Khamma Billiat and Knowledge Musona among others.
The aforementioned players are indeed soccer giants and some have been honoured by highly esteemed people and clubs. In the case of Knowledge Musona aka the Smiling Assassin, we previously shared a video uploaded by CAF honouring the soccer star’s talent.
Tinotenda Kadewere was selected to make up part of the team that faced Lille FC on the 25th of April in the prestigious French Ligue 1 competitions. The team wounded up in the top 4 of the League.
When it comes to Marvellous Nakamba, we don’t doubt his skill. We also don’t doubt his generosity since just 3 weeks ago he opted to pay school fees for 1000 children across Zimbabwe who’s families were struggling. The star was also fortunate enough to be graced by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William. We shared the meet up here.

Some fans expressed their dissatisfaction over the exclusion of players like Washington Arubi. The inclusion of team members such as Galloway who is said to have previously refused national team call ups, doesn’t sit well with many fans.

]]>The post Investigations on Warriors coach Loga are complete: ZIFA appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Wilson Mutekede, Zifa’s technical director was said to have requested confirmation from Uefa of the validity of Loga’s Pro License.
While the investigations were ongoing many suspicions where being raised in regards to Loga’s coaching qualifications. Some of these brutal allegations and the reasons for carrying out the investigation were discussed in an article we previously published.
Well, the final verdict is now out!
The Croatian Football Federation have since confirmed that coach Loga’s license is indeed legit and was acquired in 2013 as he had said. Its validity will be until June of 2021.
In a statement issued to the media by the Croatian Football Federation through Tomislav Pacak, it was ascertained that there was nothing amiss with Loga’s UEFA badges.
He said the following statement:
“We hereby confirm that Mr Logarušic earned his UEFA Pro license in 2013 at the Croatian Football Federation Football Academy and his current badge (identification card) is valid until 30 June 2021. So, from our side, there is absolutely nothing suspicious about his license,”
Regarding this matter, Mutekede gave assurance that prior to hiring the Warriors coach Loga, a thorough verification of his qualifications was made through CAF so whether or not the licenses were being illegally obtained would be out of his scope of knowledge.

]]>Amidst dissatisfaction from fans over the performance of the Warriors’ coach Zdravko Logarusic, the Zimbabwe Football Association(ZIFA) has stepped in with similar sentiments. A leaked conversation relating to the coach’s qualifications has lead ZIFA to start investigating the legitimacy of coach they hired.
A South African source that is cognisant of the investigations being carried out informed ZIFA of a huge scandal taking place amongst most European coaches. It is reported that some Uefa coaching badges are acquired unethically and such ‘coaches’ usually have just African clubs or national teams as reference in their CVs and no coaching experience in their native countries.
These ongoing investigations were sparked by an alleged email sent to the Kenyan Football Federation by Loga stating that he will be working on his Uefa Pro License soon. This revelation came as a surprise as Loga had previously stated that he had acquired his Pro License in 2013.
The scandal does not end there. After forwarding his license to the relevant officials, its signatories raised eyebrows yet again.Among the three signatures was said to have been one belonging to a recently convicted fraudster and tax evader Damir Vrbanovic of Croatia.
Investigations are still underway and ZIFA technical director, Wilson Mutekede has reportedly already forwarded a request to a Uefa instructor to check the legitimacy of Loga’s coaching license.

]]>Our warriors managed to beat Botswana with a score of 1-0 on the Botswana team’s own turf leaving Zimbabwe at 8 points. The match took place at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown. The winning goal was scored by Perfect Chikwende. This took place after a series of troubles. For starters some of the players that were needed to complete the warriors team were still stuck in Australia.
Wilson Mutekede who is the technical advisor to ZIFA was ecstatic over this victory and is certain Zimbabweans were too. He shared the following statements:
“We are very happy about what the Warriors did here and we believe that Zimbabweans are happy too.”
CAPS United FC, light-heartedly took to their twitter to say that the victory did not come as a surprise given the USD hard currency bought bus that Caps loaned them.
Luxurious Caps United Bus inspires Warriors to a historic win.
"There is no way we would lose a match if we use such a bus," said a Warriors technical team member who preferred anonymity.
NB: The bus was bought in USD hard currency.

Less pressure is now on Zimbabwe as they face the final qualifying match against Zambia next week at the National Sports Stadium. As a result of their great performance Zambia will not be able to catch up with Zimbabwe as they have only 4 points. Nonetheless, the warriors are expected to play well against Zambia in the coming match.
Other other hand, Algeria leads Zimbabwe with 3 points as they managed to settle at 11 points after their 3-3 draw with Zambia.
The warriors performance came as a great relief to their coach, Zdravko Logarusic, as he was being criticised over the Warriors’ disastrous performance in Chan 2021 where they lost all three matches.
Serious preparations for the AFCON finals in Cameroon will soon be underway to avoid the embarrassment of the last tournament in Egypt were they only managed to accumulate just 1 point from three matches.
This Nations Cup qualification marks the fifth for the Warriors as they also qualified in the years 2004, 2006, 2017 and 2019.
