Last week social media was busy circulating the images of the thieves in Ruwa that had been caught on camera breaking into a house and stealing a television set. The thieves have finally been caught, thanks again to the power of social media.
The images and video that were circulating of these men in the act showed two of them very clearly. These men have now been identified as Carrington Kashesha (41) and Tongai Brighton Tsuro (43). They were caught and await their trial on alleged housebreaking in Damofalls, Ruwa.
The robbers were also accompanied by some of their other counterparts who are still to be identified.

This happening reflects on the power of social media. For instance, in March a viral video circulated on social media of a woman being harassed by touts at Dulibadzimu bus terminus. The culprits managed to be caught and given a 6 month sentence as a result of the video reaching the relevant authorities. The Ruwa incident is similar, with the videos and pictures of the thieves circulating on social media channels having led to the quick identification of the criminals.
More details on their trial are to follow.
