Its not very often that people go into a store to steal a wig. What’s even rarer is when the wig thief is a man. Even rarer is when he is somebody’s 59 year old grandfather.
A 59 year old Nene Banda descended on a shop in Bulawayo, corner Sixth Avenue and Joshua Mquabuko Street. He came in under the guise that he intended on buying a bed. When he thought noone was watching him, he stole a wig.
It was only in the evening that the storekeepers noticed that the wig was missing and advised their superior. Fortunately, the CCTV cameras were working and had captured the man clearly.
Banda was caught when he tried to steal a second time.
Watch the video below:
Nene Banda appeared before Magistrate Amanda Ndlovu and pleaded guilty to theft. He will be remanded out of custody next week Monday.
Very unexpected for someone his age. This is quite similar to the case of a grandmother who swindled $20 000 from their church member.
