If you are Zimbabwean then it would be surprising if you didn’t know Delta Corporation Limited. This company, which appointed a new CEO earlier this year, is Zimbabwe’s largest soft drinks and beer company. Delta is headquartered in Harare.
Big companies such as Delta are often targeted by scammers and we’ve seen it happen countless times. In most instances scammers masquerade as a big reputable company in order to lure its victims. Provoker Magazine previously shared one such incident involving Econet.
Delta Scam
The soft drinks and beer company recently alerted people to keep their eyes wide open as there were scammers operating under the Delta name. They have been running a fake 80th anniversary competition on the fake Delta Beverages website promising a US$200 prize.
Delta shared the following official statement:
While we’re on this subject of scams, you will also need to be extra careful regarding some job postings that seem to be from big organisations. A previous post on the UNDP job scams can help you identify and avoid falling victim to such scams. Text messaging has also been another way scammers have lured in their victims.
