People world over have showcased their culinary skills in so many different ways. Some ended disastrous with the food tasting a lot different from how it was intended to to. However, in South China the Chef ended up being a victim of his meal.
It is not uncommon for people, especially in China, to make a meal out of snakes. While doing so, Chef Peng Fan lost his life. The chef, who is from Foshan City in Guangdong province of South China, was preparing a soup from the meat of an Indonesian spitting cobra. This is a very popular soup in China and can be found in many restaurants.
Chef Peng beheaded the cobra and went on to make the soup for 20 minutes. After the soup was complete, the chef went on to clean the kitchen. The head of the snake was not used in the making of the soup so he was putting it in with the rest of the trash. It was then that he was bitten by the snake.
A guest at the restaurant was having dinner with his wife when he says suddenly there was commotion and an ambulance was called for. Unfortunately the medical team was too late as Chef Peng died before the team arrived.
Police have stated that this was an unusual case and nothing could have been done to save him without doctors. However, experts have shown that a reptile is usually able to continue making reactive movements even up to an hour after they are killed. In this case, as it was a poisonous spiting cobra, the venom can kill within 30 minutes.
While snakes have proven to be dangerous in many cases, including the case of the cheating man who was bitten, they have also proved useful. People have also turned snakes into a very lucrative business.
