In March 2021, Gateway School was hit by armed robbers who have yet to be caught. The robbers swiped US$250k that was kept in the school’s premises. Using the same modus operandi another school in Ruwa was robbed of their cash.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police took to their twitter to explain this occurrence and reiterate that Zimbabweans should stop the habit of keeping large sums of cash within work or home premises.
This time around US$30 000 was stolen from the school’s safe in the same way that the Gateway School’s safe was blasted into. A Nokia cellphone, HP laptop and a Samsung TV.
