This news came as a huge slap in the face of a ZRP officer. He was caught on the wrong side of a love triangle and is now expected to pay heftily.
A Mwenezi police station officer was involved in a love affair with married Fiona Mukachana. The lover’s husband, Zivengwa Machirini caught air of the affair and it didn’t end well for the officer involved.
The officer, Thomas Mudekunye had been sending love texts and nudes to the local businessman’s wife. Upon questioning the wife, she admitted to the affair with Mudekunye.
Machirini and Mukacha are legally married and are blessed with two children. They were happily married until Machirini revealed that the officer and his wife’s sexual relationship caused a huge strain in their marriage.
The distraught husband filed a lawsuit at Chivi Civil Court. Due to the pain he experienced, the businessman Marichini demanded damages of upto US$15 000 while another US$15 000 is for āloss of consortiumā.
This amount seems like a tall order for police officers given their wages. Some have been trying to supplement their salaries through chicken rearing but other police stations have restricted that.
Magistrate Rutendo Jakati will hand down her ruling on the matter on 23 June 2021.
This is not the first time that a married partner has demanded damage payment from their mate’s lover. The courts recently ruled that a distraught wife receive damage fees of US$3000 from her husband’s lover for the mental trauma she put her through.
