]]>To emphasise the gravity of such matters, Zimbabwe is well aware of the Anna Machaya matter that shook the nation. Despite the fact that her parents had arranged for the child marriage the law hears none of that.
Since the aforementioned case, the nation has become more aware of how such matters are handled. As a result, the 14 year old girl in question’s parents were quick to take action against the girl’s so-called boyfriend.
The 14 year old was in a relationship with Luckmore Gwetu, a 21 year old man. She is said to have visited the man at his home in Emganwini surburb, Bulawayo. She even bought a gift for the 21 year old man’s 5 year old child.
Gwetu proceeded to caress the girl and thereafter sleep with her. She later wore his t shirt and underwear and take many inappropriate pictures together
The girl’s parents saw these inappropriate images in August and immediately reported the boy to the police and he was arrested.
Gwetu was not asked to plead and is waiting to appear in court.

]]>Older Zimbabweans on twitter took the morning to reminisce on being bashed by parents. They called it disciplinary action and credit their good behaviour to that upbringing.
However, with the rise of human rights activist movements, such discipline is referred to as child abuse. This has led to parents crying that they have lost control over kids that have grown up in this era. No wonder some Zimbabwean twitter users were reminiscing over the good old times. This came after a student complained about being caned by the headmaster.

Zimbabwe’s law does not say anything corporal punishment in the home. However, corporal punishment as a sentence for crime is unlawful.
Should this form of disciplinary action be brought back?
What are your thoughts?

“I’m alive and strong.
Relatives of the girl’s father are with me as we speak and we were surprised to learn from social media that some are saying I hanged myself”
She continued to defend herself in regards to the video that had gone viral by saying,
“The video clearly shows that I was not beating her but she cried over seeing her mother expressing harsh words
The father wanted to use social media to find ways of taking the child from me but it failed to work”
The social welfare officials were also said to have left without the child after being satisfied that the child is safe and sound. However, the internet was not so pleased with this move. Some predominant sentiments are echoed in the remarks below:
