The post IPL 2022: Fast Bowler Blessing Muzarabani To Be The First Zimbabwean To Play In IPL In 8 Years appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>It is not known as yet if the 25-year-old will be joining the franchise as a replacement for Mark Wood or as a net bowler.
If Muzarabani does come into LSG as a replacement for Wood, it would be the first after 8 years that a Zimbabwean player will feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a contracted cricketer.
The last Zimbabwean to feature in the IPL was Brendan Taylor. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and was released ahead of IPL 2015 season. Ray Price (Mumbai Indians) and Tatenda Taibu (Kolkata Knight Riders) are some of the other players from Zimbabwe who have featured in the IPL before.
Prior to Muzarabani Lucknow had set their sights on Taskin Ahmed but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refused to give him the NoC (No Objection Certificate) because of the national team’s upcoming assignments.

The men’s team have been doing equally as well. Besides looking the part with the shoes that were donated to them by Puma, their performance is noteworthy. In their 3rd T20I on Sunday, they beat Scotland by 6 wickets.
The ICC has previously taken note of the Zimbabwean Cricket star Andy Flower by elevating him to their infamous hall of fame.

]]>Its almost a full week since Zimbabwe broke history in the T20I match against Pakistan. This morning as Zimbabwe takes on Pakistan a Zimbabwe cricket a second time, history’s course has been altered once again. Umpire Langton Rusere will be standing in as the umpire of the match. He has certainly come a long way before this great ground breaking achievement. He umpired for his first international match on the 24th of October 2015 which was between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.
Fast forward to 2018 January, Rusere was one of the seventeen on-field umpires for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup which was held in New Zealand.
So you might be wondering what makes today’s match so special in comparison to the previous matches he has umpired. Well, today’s match is a part of the test series. Test Series cricket is a little different to the usual as it has the longest match duration. It is also considered the games highest standard.
Congratulations Langton Rusere for umpiring such a prestigious match and changing histories course.

]]>Mukhlani describe the day of Streak’s ban as the “darkest day in Zimbabwean Cricket.” In addition he expressed his dismay at Streak’s use of his position in pursuit of dirty benefits. Furthermore he showed his unwavering support for the measures taken by the ICC and ZC to combat any criminality that reflected badly on cricket locally and globally.
The eight year ban was issued out Heath Streak after he was charged for meddling in betting. This included the revealing of inside information to be used in betting and the failure to disclose a payment in bitcoins from a potential corrupter to anti-corruption officials.
This proved to be a very sad situation as Heath Streak is considered a great influence in the sport. Statistics have shown that he is considered the best bowler to have played for Zimbabwe. He has represented Zimbabwe in cricket matches locally and internationally from 1993 to 2005.
