The post UPDATE: Touts who harassed woman given 6 month jail sentence appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>These four touts, who are said to have handed themselves over to the police following a conversation between the police and intercity bus operators, appeared before Beitbridge Resident Magistrate Mr Toyindepi Zhou. They were initially given a 10 months jail term but four were removed on the terms that the men do not commit a similar offence within the next five years.

Government expresses their concern over the increasing reports of females being harassed in public places particularly by touts. The arrest of these touts serves to discourage others from engaging in such behaviour as it is not taken lightly.

]]>The names and ages of the touts were revealed and perhaps you’ll also realize why this information is a serious cause for concern. The ZRP post read :
“The ZRP announces the names of the four suspects (touts) involved in a case of manhandling and harassment of an elderly woman in Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge as Maxwell Kamuda (42), Lazarus Chingova (44), Michael Mlambo (35) and Worry Muranda (40). More information to follow”
The behaviour that was displayed in the viral video was naturally more expected of younger touts. However, the fact that these are older man, who are also probably men with wives and children, was appalling. People were quick to think of the kind of example these men are setting for the younger ones. If older men showcase such behaviour, what are we to expect of the younger generations? How are the younger ones to be controlled if this is the example being set for them by older generations.

Generally, citizens expressed their thanks for the action taken by the police. However, some were quick to point out that action seems to have been taken just because the harassment was captured on video. They relayed incidences were similar occurrences took place right in the presence of policemen who took absolutely no action. They summed some the police to be victims of the court of public opinion.
