Zimbabwe has been fighting sanctions placed on it by the West for long. Different methods of dealing with sanctions have been brought up.
President Mnangagwa previously issued a detailed statement on how Zimbabwe is to go forward as a nation despite the sanctions. However, the removal of sanctions will aid significantly in the development of the nation.
The UN Special Rapporteur, Dr Alena Douhan, will be visiting the nation from the 18th October 2021 to 28 October 2021. This visit is to assess the damage that has been caused by theĀ unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights.
The visit comes at the time when SADC will be calling for the removal of the illegal economic sanctions which is set aside for the 25 October 2021.
This visit was instigated by the tremendous support Zimbabwe received at the United Nations General Assembly. Various countries called upon a removal of the illegal sanctions.
Although Zimbabwe didn’t get the result they were expecting from Joe Biden’s appointment, maybe this is the visit that will change everything for the better.
