Gone are the days when police used to serve with the citizens’ best interests at heart. One would wonder what modern day policing has turned into.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police have been notorious for various things that are not exactly in the interests of the citizens. From encouraging citizens to “fight kunze kweroad” to sending nudes to people’s spouses.
This time around, the police threw teargas into a bus full of passengers. The passengers had to hurriedly get out while some jumped out the windows. Children who were in the bus were affected as some were immediately collapsing. The Herald reported that although the police were not available to comment, eyewitnesses have stated that a child was badly injured and had to be rushed to the hospital.
This incident took place in Beitbridge along Masvingo road. Following a brief chase with the police, the police are said to have caught up and thrown teargas in the bus near Fidelity residential area.
