There is never a justification for murder! That said, there are reasons that seem almost unbelievable.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) arrested five men, Benjamin Mapondera (45), Moses Nhamo (51) Joshua Mahuni (48) Itel Mujere (43) and Daniel Nyamupingidza (43) on 26 September 2021. These men were arrested in connection with the murder of 33 year old Tendai Maruwa in Ushewekunze.
Tendai Maruwa is said to have been given 11 mazondo (cow hoofs) to skin by suspect Benjamin Mapondera. Tendai along with his friend who was assisting in the skinning of the hoof were later assaulted by the suspects after one hoof is said to have gone missing.
This overreaction is similar to the case we previously covered where a man in Chipinge was murdered over a “precious” dog.
