Fawcett Security Company has an interesting claim on their website. They boast of the following in these exact words:
“Since 1959 Fawcett Security has proudly been the leading security company in the Zimbabwean Security Industry. Providing the highest possible standards of service delivery, training & manpower development.”
The irony is that this leading security company was unable to safeguard themselves from 7 ordinary robbers.
Last week 7 robbers managed to infiltrate Chipinge Fawcett Depot. They are said to have gotten away with thousands of US dollars, rands and Zimbabwean dollars. This took place after they succeeded in manhandling 5 security guards at the premises and relieved them of their phones and alarm remote control.
The first pair to be manhandled were Nhamo Muhlule and Serverino Tanyaara who were in the process of handing over N Richards keys. The two were disarmed and tied up.
Next guard to be manhandled was Desmond Macheza who was inside the control room. Upon realising what was taking place Macheza closed the control room doors, however the robbers gained access using a crowbar.
This event took place at 7pm on 2 June and the robbers got away with USD$6583, R32 110, ZW$11 937 and an additional undisclosed amount of cash.
The Chipinge District Criminal Investigation is currently investigating this case. They are appealing to the members of the public to come forward with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
