The post Shocker: Zimbabweans Are Attacking Census Enumerators appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Mangwana encouraged people to welcome the enumerators as they mean no harm and he spoke about specific cases on Twitter with the captions;
“CENSUS CHALLENGES
There are some people in Harare not cooperating with enumerators. Please cooperate.
An enumerator was chased away by a respondent holding a knife threatening to kill him, in Warren Park. The case was reported to police and the respondent was arrested.
Another case was of an enumerator who was offered USD150 by Pakistani family in Avondale thinking that he was from the immigration department. Case reported.
An enumerator in ward 41 was biten by dogs.
In Mandara one case was reported of a respondent who wanted to burnt an enumerator with some hot water.”

Nick Mangwana also spoke about an enumerator who had his recording tablet stolen in Gutu with the caption;
“GUTU
Some robber mugged a #Census2022 supervisor and took the Tablet in Bikita. He was caught trying to sell the gadget in Gutu. This thing has a 2gb storage and surely the risk of being charged with handling stolen property is not worth it. Don’t bother.”

With all these challenges in mind maybe there should have been more efforts made by the government in educating people fully on what a census is and the purpose of recording the data they need. People could have possibly confused census people with political party people and that could also explain the violence. The exercise has clashed with the pre-election campaigns and possibly left some ignorant people feeling paranoid.

]]>3Ktv is the first to launch out of six channels that were issued licenses two years ago.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Nick Mangwana has announced that Zimbabwe is launching its first private television channel.
“Today is a big day in the Zimbabwe Media Space, specifically broadcasting. Zimbabwe’s first private television channel is being launched today.
This coming on the heels of the coming on air of community radio stations is vindication of ED’s democratic sincerity,” said Mangwana.
The launch event was graced by government officials as well as select individuals from business, showbiz and legal sectors. Stand up comedian Carl Joshua Ncube performed as well as multi-award-winning musician Jah Prayzah.
The independent television station 3Ktv, goes live at 6 am on the 28th of February 2022. The free-to-air, family-viewing oriented station will also be available on MultiChoice’s DStv platform — on Channel 293 — to all bouquets offered by Africa’s leading entertainment company, from Premium through to Lite. It will be broadcasting 24 hours, seven days a week from its brand new studios in Harare.
Based on the information on the channel’s Facebook page, it seems one has to have DStv to access the channel. This leaves Zimbabweans without a DStv decoder at a disadvantage.

]]>He shared the following post on his social media platform expressing excitement over the progress being made by the government of Zimbabwe to fix the country’s infrastructure.
Zimbabweans Cry Foul
I’m sure some people would have started to celebrate the progress or at least be hopeful that this means their own roads were next in line. Unfortunately, bubbles were burst when other twitter users immediately remembered coming across that same image on the internet.
The image is said to be of a road constructed by the government of South Sudan that was later stopped due to non-payment from the government.

Are We Being Taken For Fools?
We wonder what the motive behind Nick Mangwana’s using of images that are not even from the country to depict work that is supposedly taking place in Zimbabwe was. However, many have already concluded that this just shows the malintent and lies by the government and its representatives.
This gave rise to another issue. The buses. People are now wondering if that’s just another item on the list of “things that didn’t happen.”Are they just another set of downloaded images or are we being shown the same image over and over again?
Before we even get that far, is there even any work being done on the Zimbabwean roads seeing that we need images from other countries to depict the work being done?

]]>The issue of who can and who cannot attend church has been back and forth. In August 2021 the first announcement in regards to church attendance was given. It stated that only those who are vaccinated can attend church services, This was taken as a move to try and force people to get vaccinated as much resistance was coming from Christians. This resistance came after the beliefs that the vaccine was the mark of the beast and other teachings had circulated.
The vaccination issue even proved to be a point of conflict among church leaders like Apostle Chiwenga and Prophet Makandiwa.
Following the President’s announcement that we were now in Level 2 Lockdown, the church attendance issue resurfaced. Soon after, the nation was under the impression that it was now okay for unvaccinated church members to attend service. This came after a statement issued by the High Court stated that those that attended church unvaccinated could no longer be arrested.
Unfortunately for those that had gotten their hopes up, we have come full circle. Nick Mangwana took to twitter to announce that unvaccinated church members cannot attend service.

To those that are opposing this law, Nick Mangwana was at liberty to say the following:
Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

This new legislative is under Statutory Instrument(SI) 228B of 2021.

The perm sec unprovoked tweeted that the first satellite will be called ZIMSAT-1, and it is currently being manufactured by Zimbabwean engineers and it is currently at an advanced stage.
This undertaking is being carried out by Zimbabwe’s equivalent of NASA called Zimbabwe National Geospacial Space Agency (ZINGSA)

At his stage we are not aware of the purpose of the satellite, hopefully it is not for spying purposes.

]]>By May 20 2021 there were reports of the new covid-19 variant, which was commonly referred to as the Indian variant. Cases reportedly increased and by the time schools closed, parents feared for the well being of their children.
The uncertainty surrounding the issue of schools reopening made people fall for WhatsApp messages stating that schools were not being reopened.
However, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Nick Mangwana deferred those claims saying that the government is still to issue an official statement on the matter.
View his tweet below:
We have taken note of messages circulating on the WhatsApp platform alleging that the President has deferred the opening of schools by two weeks. That is not correct. Should there be a change regarding the opening of schools, Govt will make a formal announcement.

]]>Good news for restaurant owners has been shared by Nick Mangwana, a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, on his twitter page. The announcement read:
“Restaurants are now allowed to open for sit-ins at 50% sitting capacity, under strict adherence to COVID19 Guidelines. Those found breaking the restrictions will be closed immediately.”
While the general majority were ecstatic that this means the ‘normal life’ they’ve missed is slowly returning, others joked in dialect saying, “Takurohwa mari zvakanaka manje. Sit-in ine kakurohwa bag kainako yasiyana netakeaway”
If you were among the people that were hoping that this means bars and nightclubs will be officially re-opening soon, dream on. Mangwana took the liberty of replying a citizen who inquired on the opening of bars with the following assertive remark,
Any thoughts on this reopening of restaurants? Should bars and nightclubs be opened too following suit?
