In Jotsholo of the Matebeleland North Province a man came across the shock of his life when he caught his wife busy with their neighbour at her parents home. The man, Vusumuzi Ncube(45) is said to have gotten suspicious after his wife Attalia Kumalo (23) went to visit her parents. She is said to have stayed there for two days which led to the suspicions.

Ncube decided to follow her to her parents and got there early morning just in time for the action. He is said to have heard his wife moaning. Upon pushing the door open he discovered that she was in the room with their neighbour.

Unfortunately, it ended badly for Ncube who was later taken to court and charged with violent assault as he immediately pounced on the neighbour. After dealing who the neighbour, who eventually escaped naked, he turned to his wife and bashed and kicked her all over.

Khumalo was rushed to the hospital and later reported the incident to the police leading to her husband’s arrested. He has been charged with 12 months in prison on charges of physical abuse. The sentence was suspended for 5 years on the condition that he doesn’t commit a similar offence again.

Unfortunately for Ncube, the courts didn’t seem to have considered the emotional abuse or trauma he might have gone through upon seeing his wife in that condition with another man.

Perhaps he can be able to acquire damages from his neighbour such as in the case of a disgruntled Harare husband who took his wife’s lover to court and demanded damages of up to $4.5 million.

A Mpilo Hospital male nurse has been arrested for allegedly hitting his ex-lover with a brick on her face. This came following a misunderstanding over their child’s welfare. So much for a nurse who, by profession is expected to be nurturing!

The nurse, Lawrence Mpala (25), was confronted by his ex-lover Pamela Matutu (25) over his failure to pay child support at his home in Makokoba suburb. He responded to this confrontation by throwing a brick to her face. The brick cut Matutu on her left eye lid.

The following day Matutu again went to Mpala’s home to ask why he had sent $4500 instead of the required $6000. Once again, Mpala pounced on Matutu’s head.

Mpala was not asked to plead and has been remanded out of custody to the 15th of October 2021. His bail charge amounts to $3000.

This level of violence is similar to that portrayed by a father who choked and beat his daughter over virginity issues.

Tembo was caught on the wrong side of the law because he had to rush to be with his wife. His wife, Joan Tembo had been admitted into  Lentegeur Hospital in Cape Town for Covid-19. However, the situation became more complicated when she was then diagnosed with water in her lungs. As a result of the hospital restrictions, Tembo was not able to see his wife for four weeks.

After four weeks he received a call from the hospital telling him to come urgently as his wife was dying. Unfortunately, while speeding to make it in time, he was caught and arrested by the police. According to Tembo, the police even refused to verify his story and locked him up while his wife died alone in hospital.

The elderly man is said to have been crying uncontrollably whilst in his cell. This caught the attention of  SAPS officers at Manenberg Police Station who disapproved  of the way the traffic police had handled the situation saying that it was inhumane. The traffic police defended themselves saying Tembo was driving at a dangerously fast speed and even went through a red traffic light.

The charges were later dropped but unfortunately Tembo was too late. Speaking to a South African media outlet after burying his wife in March, the elderly man said although he was relieved that the charges were dropped, he was still traumatised that he didn’t get to say goodbye.

Despite this sad ending, the Daily Voice reported that although the City empathise with the man, his situation did not give him the right to break the law.

Of course those laws are not the end of it. More have come about to ensure that woman are treated with fairness and equal to men. You can only imagine the disappointment when women found that patriarchy runs deeper than they ever thought. It goes as far back and as deep into the way town planning was carried out.

Town planning guidelines stated that female trees were not allowed in urban areas. Female trees people! Various women from all over angrily shared their sentiments. Some have even started petitions for the government to plant female trees in urban areas.

This decision even went on to create problems still experienced today. Because of the high level of pollen in the air that is not being used up to fertilise female trees, more people end up suffering from hay fever.

Although this might seem to be blatant sexism and capitalism, others assumed the role of the voice of reason and explained the reason behind such a move. It was suggested that female trees were not included because they produce fruit and fruit all over the town would be a messy sight. In addition to creating a mess all over the town, the seeds and fruits have a high potential of clogging up the drainage systems.

One man was moved to do something very special for his girlfriend. His act even ended up making headlines. As national examinations approached, the Senegalese student couple connived to pass the examinations by all means. The plan was to have the hopelessly in love boyfriend dress up as a girl and write the exam on behalf of his girlfriend.

“The couple is to be tried on (Thursday) August 5 for exam fraud and complicity in fraud, by the court of Diourbel,” the prosecutor said.

According to the prosecution, the boyfriend, whose age was not disclosed, had moved to Diourbel to take the exams for his girlfriend, a student in a high school in this city. The man went to the examination centre adorned in a red dress with black patterns, wearing a veil with the same colours and a black shawl, to deceive the invigilators.
