The issue of who can and who cannot attend church has been back and forth. In August 2021 the first announcement in regards to church attendance was given. It stated that only those who are vaccinated can attend church services, This was taken as a move to try and force people to get vaccinated as much resistance was coming from Christians. This resistance came after the beliefs that the vaccine was the mark of the beast and other teachings had circulated.

The vaccination issue even proved to be a point of conflict among church leaders like Apostle Chiwenga and Prophet Makandiwa.

Following the President’s announcement that we were now in Level 2 Lockdown, the church attendance issue resurfaced. Soon after, the nation was under the impression that it was now okay for unvaccinated church members to attend service. This came after a statement issued by the High Court stated that those that attended church unvaccinated could no longer be arrested.

Unfortunately for those that had gotten their hopes up, we have come full circle. Nick Mangwana took to twitter to announce that unvaccinated church members cannot attend service.

To those that are opposing this law, Nick Mangwana was at liberty to say the following:

Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

This new legislative is under Statutory Instrument(SI) 228B of 2021.

One pressing issue was the one concerning vaccination against Covid-19. The media has long since presented some strong arguments for and against vaccinations. Those who choose not to get vaccinated do so for various reasons that might be triggered by news all over of people who have died following vaccination complications.

Hence, it follows that sensitive matters such as these could have long term implications if someone was forced to make a decision against their will just to please the government or employers.

Whilst the Denmark government was removing all said covid preventative measures including vaccination, Zimbabwe’s government has even arrested pastors for including unvaccinated members in their church services. This follows after the mandate barring unvaccinated individuals from attending such services.

The matter was taken up to the High Courts as the Statutory Instrument was said to be infringing on human rights.

The police or any other authorities are no longer allowed to arrest anyone on the grounds of attending functions or services while not being vaccinated. Hence, unvaccinated individuals can attend church services freely once again.

As a protective measure to combat the covid-19 problem, the Zimbabwean government is encouraging vaccination. However, their efforts have not been welcomed well by everyone. Vaccination presents some controversial schools of thought that have come to be accepted by society. No wonder much dissatisfaction surrounded the arrest of the Christ Embassy pastor for having unvaccinated members. In Denmark, such covid protective measures have been eradicated.

Following a statement by the government offering group vaccinations to churches, it is becoming clear that there is still much resistance to vaccination.

As the drive to encourage vaccination increased all over the world, there’s some things that we’ve been told about vaccines. This included various information like vaccines significantly reduce the chances of infection. Some were told that vaccinated individuals would be less likely to spread the virus.

A new study has chosen that things have changed. For starters, science now shows that fully vaccinated individuals can carry the same level of Covid as unvaccinated people. This means that the risk of spreading the virus is still present.

This information was revealed following a study by the University of Oxford. The study also revealed that the delta variant wipes out the viral load reduction.

Sarah Walker, professor of medical statistics revealed with the previous variation, the vaccinated had a low viral load. However, the delta variant posed a different situation. The viral load for both vaccinated and not vaccinated was the same. These discoveries are part of the reason that Denmark eradicated all covid measures including vaccination.

Whatever the case may be, the Zimbabwean government has taken a different approach in encouraging vaccination. Current lockdown measures restrict people from gathering for most functions including church services. Not being able to go to church has been a huge train smash for congregants. However, a change to that restriction has now been announced.

Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana took to his twitter to announce this change:

So in essence, church can only be attended by those who are fully vaccinated. This move is already being frowned upon by church goers who’s leaders have also previously had disputes over the vaccination issue.

Australia had one of its cities named the best in the world city to live in. Comparatively, Harare was high up in the worst to live in cities list. So, that’s just one little detail that can make anyone believe that Australia has it all figured out and could never learn a thing or two from Zimbabwe.

However, an Australian parliamentarian was furious at their government and stated that Zimbabwe was doing a better job. This was pertaining to the way the Australian government is dealing with covid-19.

Zimbabwe has been focused on vaccinating as many people as possible. The World Health Organization acknowledged these efforts. They reported that Zimbabwe was leading SADC in their efforts to contain the coronavirus.

The Zimbabwean government has since taken a serious approach to combating the corona virus. One of the measures taken is putting in place a goal of vaccinating 60% of the population in order to reach herd immunity. Aiding in the achievement of this goal is the various donations of the Covid-19 vaccines from India and China. The latest consignment of vaccines was received on Monday 17th of May. We reported on that matter in this article.

According to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Addis Ababa-based , Zimbabwe has procured vaccines for almost 900 000 people. All other Southern African countries are yet to reach this figure.

The President of Zimbabwe, Mnangagwa has expressed that the focus on vaccinating as many people as possible will make the country safe and allow for safe tourism. Tourism is one of the economy drivers and its restoration, as stated by the President, will allow fast economic growth to take place.

Some countries seem to have slowed down in their vaccination efforts as a result of various alleged side effects that have been reported. Here is a list of countries were vaccines were deferred.

Fortunately, the people of Malawi, where this event will be taking place, were not too dissatisfied over the matter. Although some highlighted that this shouldn’t even be dressed as a ceremony of such stature, many were not fazed. The popular sentiment is perfectly embodied by the comment that simply stated, “our people love ceremonies.”

Some Zimbabweans were quick to express sentiments implying that Zimbabwe and Malawi were in the same WhatsApp group. “We love a ceremony and ribbon-cutting” remarked some Zimbabweans.

Present to receive the consignments was Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs, Oppah Mushinguri-Kashiri. This is different from the previous times where the President himself went to receive the vaccines.  Minister Oppah Kashiri was accompanied by ZDF Commander General Phillip Valerio Sibanda.

The consignments were collected at the Robert Mugabe Airport on Monday 17 May 2021.  These included 100 000 vaccine doses and 420 000 syringes. The vaccines were handed to the Zimbabwean authorities present by Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, Guo Shaochun. He was pleased with the donation saying it reflected the good relations between China and Zimbabwe.
