The post Telone Introduces USD Bonus Broadband Packages appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>The Telone Bonus Broadband Packages are quite affordable compared to the rtgs bundles they have had on offer. The prices are outlined on their flier as follows:
Starter US$10: 40GB broadband data monthly and 20GB bonus night data monthly
Mega US$25: 70GB broadband data monthly and 35GB bonus night data monthly
Giga Plus US$40: 180GB broadband data monthly and 90GB bonus night data monthly
Supreme US$60: Unlimited broadband data monthly and Unlimited bonus night data monthly
This move from Telone comes after Econet also announced their Smart USD Bundles with 10GB costing US$10. Econet however only has the 10GB bundle and other WhatsApp bundles ranging between a dollar and US$5. This places Telone at an advantage because people can choose bundle sizes according to what they can afford.
Many more internet service providers are bound to follow the lead of Econet and Telone as people are turning to the US dollar for trading because of its stability compared to the rtgs. In February, economist Gift Mugano predicted that Zimbabwe will dollarize by June due to hyperinflation and unstable exchange rates. Since then the rates have continued to go up with an increase in basic commodities like mealie meal and bread to fuel prices being reviewed constantly.

]]>The telecommunications company Tweeted:
“Tired of the utility hustle. Ensure you get to pay electricity upfront with our TelOne prepaid meters
#ThefutureIsBetterTogether”
Could this be an April Fools trick? Because how are the two companies even related? Suppose Telone supplies electricity meters on behalf of ZESA…on what grounds would they be acquiring them? And who would do the installations? April Fools?. What do you think?

]]>If you have lived long enough in Zimbabwe you might remember that TelOne launched their Blaze LTE service in Harare, with a limited number of lines available. However, it seems like the service was oversubscribed and within days the lines ran out.
You would think that with such demand The telecommunications company would make more LTE lines available, but it has been years and there have been no developments on that front.
Well to cut a long story short, the Blaze LTE sim cards are now finally available but don’t celebrate just yet. The catch is at the moment the service is only available in Chitungwiza.
We reached out to the TelOne team on their Facebook account on the availability of the service in Harare and below is their response.
“The service will likely be rolled out to the rest of the country In due course, with the expansion service currently underway”
TelOne remains one of the most affordable internet providers in the country, especially in light of the recent price shocker from NetOne.
They also face competition from other providers like ZOL Zimbabwe which is now called Liquid Home.
Seems strides are being made in the right direction…slowly. Do you think this is good news?

]]>The post Netone Increases Data, Voice and SMS Bundle Tariffs…AGAIN! appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>This move comes as a shock to many Netone subscribers because Netone increased the tariffs on the 2nd of February, almost three weeks ago.
The exchange rate for the USD and local currency keeps increasing at an astonishing rate on the black market. The rate currently sits at US$1 for ZWL$240.
It seems as though every time the rate increases, service providers amend their prices to match the black market rate even though there is an official bank rate. Below are some of the new prices compared to the old prices.
The price hikes by Netone are out of this world. Their hourly bundle was $250 ZWL for 1GB valid for 1 hour. Now it is $1650 ZWL!
Many Netone users have shared their opinions of the price increase on social media. Most people probably expected a slight increase to align the new prices with the black market USD rate as that is what most service providers do. No one expected the price increase to be two or three times more than the previous prices.
This will definitely have an effect on a lot of people and Netone’s competitors. With other service providers like Telone also significantly raising their tariffs, we are bound to see a lot of hopping around as people shift from one service provider to the other.

]]>The post Telone Announces Data Package Price Hike. Is It Justified? appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Telone has been praised in recent years for having affordable packages. This might change with an increase of over 100 percent o ther prices.
The new prices announced on their Facebook page are in local RTGS currency but one can estimate the USD value by finding out the bank exchange rates. For instance, the Home Boost package (600 GB) is ZWL$6,295 (about USD$54) and it will be going up to ZWL$14,200 (about USD$122).
The public has not taken the price increase lightly and some people have used it as an opportunity so vent their frustrations with the service provider. People generally do not understand why Telone has hiked the prices up in USD as well instead of aligning the local currency price to the USD price.
Although Telone bundles have been the most affordable compared to other service providers , they haven’t been the most convenient to use. There have been constant complaints about service delivery on their social media platforms.
A common complaint on the Telone platforms has been the internet speeds. Their speeds have been inconsistent, and there have been problems when people stream live shows. Another common complaint has been reimbursement after replacement of stolen cables. Stolen cables seems to be a recurring challenge and it seems the service provider hasn’t been compensating clients on a satisfactory level for the downtime when the challenge is being attended to.
If Telone is going to hike their prices they need to provide a service worthy of the money they are asking for. Another challenge Telone may face is retaining paying clients based on good service delivery. They have too many complaints on their social media platforms with bad service delivery cases.
Issues like stolen cables, failing to reimburse clients for lost data when rectifying issues and unpleasant customer services experience are major when trying to get people to pay for services offered by the company. It’s impossible to satisfy everyone but Telone did not mention any plans resolve to the issues. If they at least informed the public that they are making specific changes to improve service delivery they would have gained more confidence form their clients.
Are these increases justified? We may never know what let Telone to make such a drastic change to their price list. But knowing the services they have offered in the past, these price increases maybe be pushing it a bit overboard. Their competitive edge was affordable broadband with fair speeds to get the job done. Although they remain slightly cheaper than their competitors, they may lose some subscribers with the massive price increase.
Below is the full list of prices as posted on their Facebook page

]]>The new packages have been introduced under this “High-Performance Satellite Broadband”. These packages are:
Home Satellite Packages
Ka Band Kit
Data Bonus Night Allowance
Despite TelOne’s promise that these packages are high speed internet some users are already doubting these claims. This is because TelOne is generally known to have slow and problematic internet. Some have stated that satellite in itself is not a very fast internet option to begin with.
TelOne responded to some clients on their page stating that this introduction is faster than the TelOne fibre option, depending on the package you are on.
View some details on the packages below:
Please note that these packages are only valid for up to a month after purchase as TelOne still has data rollover under suspension.
For the TelOne users that prefer to use their data instead of WiFi, here are the new tariffs on TelOne data packages.

]]>Telone recently announced adjustments in their data tariffs. The adjustments are effective starting on 29 September 2021. However, despite the changes, Zimbabweans seem pleased by the affordability of their packages. The same cannot be said for the Econet Packages that people have complained about so much to the extend that popular journalist Hopewell Chinono chided Zimbabweans for using Econet.
Below are the tariff changes:
The service provider clarified to users that the roll over service is still under suspension. This means that the packages are valid for a month from the day purchased.

]]>The post Heart Breaking: TelOne suspends Data Rollover facility citing system challenges appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>The data rollover facility allowed TelOne customers to carry over their unused data to the next, prior to this introduction of this facility, unused data would expire after 30 days.
TelOne has been facing viability challenges, the company has resorted to selling handsets, and even their video on demand (VOD) platform DEOD recently reduced subscriptions prices when everyone else is hiking tariffs, a sign that things are not looking good at the parastatal.
The reason cited for the suspension is that the facility is that the rollover facility was causing instability on their platform, which was impacting other services.
In our view the decision has more to do with low revenues, when the facility was introduced it obviously meant that customers would stay longer without buying new bundles, by reverting to the old system they are able to make money even in instances where services were not rendered.
It looks like regulators in Zimbabwe are giving telecoms companies’ free reign without checks and balances, in the end it is the consumer that suffers.

]]>TelOne took to their social media pages to announce their latest introduction to the TelOne family. They call it the New MLS Easy TS 4G Smart Feature Phone. This feature phone is able to access Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram much like Econet’s smart kambudzi.
So since it’s being introduced by TelOne, one would expect that it was released in a bid to encourage the use of their network by making it operate on their network. However, this is not the case. The feature phone is just another regular feature phone, which makes TelOne seem like just another regular handset seller.
View the handsets below:
The price of these handsets caught people off guard. It will cost US$99.99 for one of these feature phones. People wondered why these phones were priced as such given the fact that one can get a smartphone like an iTel for the same price or even less.
What are your thoughts?

]]>The post TelOne retrenches 423 workers with ZJC and Grade 7 as their highest qualification appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>According to NewZimbabwe.com the affected workers through their unions, cited unfair dismissal.
But documents gleaned by NewZimbabwe.com show that as early as 2016 the affected workers were advised to upgrade their qualifications to a minimum of at least Ordinary Level but failed to do so for various reasons.
In TelOne’s defence the company’s head of corporate communications had this to say;
“TelOne is transforming into a digital entity in line with its new strategic thrust. For this drive to succeed, relevant skills and qualifications emerged as the main driver of the company strategy.
“As such, individuals whose skills set were rendered redundant in line with global technological demands and digitalisation market trends are the ones who were affected.
“The affected individuals have Grade 7 and ZJC as their highest educational qualification,” she said.
However the Communication Workers Union of Zimbabwe(CWUZ) accuses TelOne of not carrying out the exercise procedurally and also violating section 65 of the Constitution which guarantees the right to fair and safe labour practices.
So what do you suggest needs to be done? Can workers with ZJC and ‘O’ level be allowed to continue working , doesn’t experience count?
