]]>Hon. Temba Mliswa is the current Member of Parliament for Norton Constituency. He has been associated with many scandals on social media over the years gaining the most attention from his dispute with ex and baby mama Susan Mutami.
Mliswa posted about Coventry on his Twitter account saying:
“As much as I have respect for Hon Kirsty Coventry I feel that she has done a disservice to her duties. She isn’t the person for that position. Some of her appointments are all wrong. Politics isn’t about being nice to people. Chirau is totally useless as a youth leader.
As for Coventry, she is focused on her IOC duties and never focused with the Ministry of Youth. Has she ever met the opposition youths or any youths to talk about their challenges? Now if your hands are not on deck with the youths what is your purpose?
She was a great athelet but she isn’t a great administrator. She is having a tough time. She cannot even relate with the majority of the youths. Maybe someone like Vargo Haritatos could be better. He can relate better with youths not so much Coventry who remains an elitist.”
His sentiments are interesting because many people in government positions are not doing anything anyway. Coventry became the Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation in September 2018. Her International Olympic Committee (IOC) duties involve supervising, supporting and monitoring the organisation of the Games; ensuring that they run smoothly; making sure that the rules of the Olympic Charter are respected.
As an athlete, Coventry would naturally gravitate to and excel in these duties but Mliswa is right that she has more duties beyond that and she hasn’t made any notable strides in that area. The sporting aspect is only one element of her job but she has many other responsibilities besides that including working with the youth. She isn’t doing much in the area of catering to the youth’s needs.

]]>The post Is It Time To Cancel Feminism Itself? appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>In recent years we have seen the rise of the feminist movement. A group of women that take it upon themselves to fight injustice towards women and call for equality in all aspects of life.
The rise of the feminist movement played a key role in uplifting girls and women. Now there is very little that women cannot do. This new found confidence has caused some women to harass and be abusive towards men under the guise of activism.
Takura

A couple of weeks ago a woman called tanyadairies on twitter accused Takura of promoting child marriages in the video Haarore. While she might have raised a couple of seemingly interesting points, it is important that one gets the facts before they ring the alarm.
The comment made by tanyadiaries is an example that one can find something wrong in anything if they allow themselves to. Self acclaimed feminists often take to the keyboard without first finding out any facts about the issues they write about.
Women stand with Monique

Although the Katlego Maboe case has been concluded, a woman named Rosie Motene on twitter posted “I still believe you”. Women For Change, the organization Katlego is suing for perpetuating the false abuse allegations retweeted the post. This is indication that they still stand their ground regardless of the court ruling.
A bit too far?
The feminist movement has undoubtedly played a positive role towards safe guarding women. Yet their tactics can sometimes come off as harassing and abusive. There are certain areas where the aggression pays off. But there are times where it is not necessary. The issue is not that they are aggressive but that they do not know where to draw the line.

]]>The post South Africa Based Zimbabwean Uses Ice Cream To Challenge Cultural Norms appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Tapiwa Guzha is one of the many Zimbabweans that have ventured beyond our borders seeking greener pastures. He moved to South Africa at the age of 18 to further his education. He specialized in molecular biology and he studied all the way to PhD level. Tapiwa stumbled into the ice cream business. His interest was piqued when he watched episodes of Masterchef where liquid nitrogen was used by contestants to make ice-cream.
Being a scientist himself, Tapiwa was familiar with liquid nitrogen. He tried using it to make his own ice cream and BOOM! Tapi Tapi was born. Tapiwa has since opened an ice cream parlor and he has churned over 600 unique flavors. I won’t lie, some of the flavors sound weird and somewhat unappealing. The top four flavors I personally find weird are masawu, okra, baobab (mauyu) and Matemba (kapenta) and toffee.

Why are we celebrating by the way?
While it’s good that we have so many Zimbabweans doing great in neighboring countries and abroad, one may feel conflicted as to whether the news is good or bad. I think the fact that there are so many people doing well out there AFTER leaving, is a bad reflection of this country. How long will people keep leaving searching for better?
Another much celebrated Zimbabwean is James Manyika, first Senior Vice President of Technology and Society at the Google. Need I mention the 6 Zimbabwean females that won elections in the UK in their respective districts? While we have reason to celebrate because they represent us well, we have to ask ourselves why else we are celebrating. Most of these people leave Zimbabwe looking for better livelihoods and opportunities. Rarely is it because they have excelled here at home and are taking their expertise beyond our borders.
Motivated but mindful
While Tapiwa Guzha represents us because he is Zimbabwean, his achievements are not necessarily our achievements. The same can be said for many other Zimbabweans out there doing well for themselves. Meaning there is an ice cream palour/stand in Cape Town run by Zimbabwean Tapiwa Guzha. However, we do not have an ice cream palour in Zimbabwe that churns out 600 flavors inspired by African tastes and cultures.
While we may be motivated by stories of Zimbabweans doing well for themselves, we need to also be mindful of what it means for us and the environment we live in.

Some Zimbabwean youths have been able to land massive deals with teams such as Liverpool FC. It is Gogo’s dream that her boys one day reach such heights, but of course, it hasn’t been an easy way up.
Watch a Gogo tells her story:
We definitely need more people like Gogo Katsande to make this world a better place.

]]>The post Why The AFM Church Shooting Is Not Surprising appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>The AFM Debacle
AFM’s leaders have had their ongoing disputes and didn’t manage to solve their issues alone. Which is nothing new because that’s exactly why courts exist, to help people iron out their differences and solve disputes. The AFM court battles went on and on and a final court decision was reached. This lead to the church splitting into two factions, one called AFM in Zimbabwe and the other AFM of Zimbabwe. Soon after, the leaders are said to have wrestled over the names as well but the drama momentarily stayed out of the limelight.
The Shooting
This Sunday, yet another fiasco took place at AFM church premises in Marlborough. The guards at the premises were said to have been hired by the church’s splinter group, Reverend Cossam Chiangwa to fire shots at rival leader Aamon Madawo’s group. This shooting took place against the high court’s last ruling which established that the legitimate leader of the church was Reverend Madawo.
Why This Is Messed Up…But Not Surprising
People go to church to seek comfort, hope and to feel safe in the arms of the Lord. The last thing probably being expected is an attack from fellow worshippers.
Apart from that, I guess the most important yardstick would be that laid out by the Bible itself, right? 2 Timothy 2 : 24 states plainly
“For a slave of the Lord does not need to fight, but needs to be gentle toward all, qualified to teach, showing restraint when wronged”
Without delving to much into everything else laid out, this scripture alone points out to how things are expected to be settled, particularly by people who call themselves Christian and are in positions of leadership within such organisations.
However, it is not surprising that things have ended up in this way and again we refer to the Bible. The Bible indicates that a significant amount of those who are currently saying they’re are worshipping the Lord will not enter into the Kingdom of God for their lawlessness. Now, it is not for any of us to decide who will and who will not enter into the Kingdom, but it is wise to pay attention to what God says in his word in this regard. Here’s what Matthew 7 : 21 -22 has stated would happen to some prophets/ church leaders who currently display an image of worshipping whilst exuding characteristics unbecoming of a worshipper:
Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’23 And then I will declare to them: ‘I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!’
Imagine that! Doing all these things “in [his] name” only to be told “I never knew you!” The surrounding scriptures show that this happens as a result of not doing things that are not doing the will of God, as stated by Luke 6 : 42.
A Sign Of The Times?
Some have suggested that this dispute have been fuelled by money since being the legitimate leader would come with associated monetary and material benefits. Others called it ego/ pride/haughtiness of wanting to be the greater Reverend. If this is true then that would point to something else stated by the Bible that is not supposed to have any place in what is identified as a Christian establishment. These qualities are part of the signs of the end times stated at 2 Timothy 3 vs 1 – 4:
But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God.
One could think, the aforementioned would be displayed to some extent by everyone so its excusable to have such conflicts within the church. However, the Bible’s viewpoint on that matter is different. Jesus stated what would identify his disciples clearly at John 13 :35:
By this all will know that you are my disciples—if you have love among yourselves.”+
So…
…we leave you to conclude. What do you make of this situation?

How does she manage to do it all?
Watch a day in her life below:
One can only hope that being in the national team pays off for her. Unfortunately, it seems to some that sports are often neglected in Zimbabwe. For instance, the male cricket team had to rely on a donation for something as little as a pair of shoes for each member.

Of course these retrenchment issues come unexpectedly and may momentarily set one off the rail. But, a year later, on 27 July 2016 he set up Spinyard Seedlings. The company now employs 120 people and is the largest nursery business in Zimbabwe.
Mawoyo took to social media to celebrate this win and Spinyard Seedlings 5 year anniversary.

Congratulations Mr Mawoyo, you’ve inspired many!
There are many Zimbabweans with very inspirational stories. Some are even managing to fly the nations flag high in the diaspora. For instance, we have covered the story of a Zimbabwean innovator who recently launched his car brand in South Africa.

]]>Of the 8 elected Zimbabweans, 6 of them were female. This is a very rare phenomenon in our own country, to have women take more positions than men in politics. The 6 females and their respective roles are as follows:
We have covered 2 of these candidates in previous articles. One was relating to the youngest candidate on the list, Nicole Moyo. You can read that article here.
The second candidate is Maggie Chapman who insisted on representing her country of origin, Zimbabwe, by saying her oath in Shona. Watch that video here.
The male candidates, who the nation is equally proud of are:
There are many other Zimbabweans who are not in the political field who are also representing the nation well. We covered the story of a Zimbabwean teenager who was recently signed by UK League one football club, Sunderland. Read about that here.
Another noteworthy story is that of the Zimbabwean comedian who was chosen to feature on UK’s MasterChef 2021. More on that here.

]]>The post Form One student produces shocking ZIMSEC O-Level result appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>A Gweru form one student, Nokuthula Mazula (14), started off her high school years on a high note. She registered along with form four students to write her ZIMSEC O-Level English examinations. Bear in mind that she was only in form one and presumably three years behind other exam candidates in her education.
The pupil, who is a student at St Patricks sat for this English exam and came out with an A. Sources stated that her father, who is said to be the headmaster at the school, wanted to experiment and see whether form four level English could be done by a form one student. No doubt the whole nation now has an answer to that.
If you were thinking that this student aced her examinations by being anti-social and in her books all the time, apparently you’re wrong. Sources around her say the girl had time to play and have fun with friends just like the rest of her age mates.
The nation is certainly filled with pride when reports like this come out. In addition to this amazing report, the Cambridge global examinations board revealed that 4 Best in the World students for different subjects were in Zimbabwe. We covered the details on that one in a previous article you can find here.
