The post “Ndabhoo” Olinda Chapel Stops Recruiting Zimbabwean Nurses Due To Abuse appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Gain Health Care is a specialist Health and Social Care Company. The company provides temporary Nursing and Care staff, Homecare Services and Provision of Supported Living.
Olinda Chapel posted on her Facebook account:
“It is with great sadness that I have made the decision to halt International Recruitment from Zimbabwe. I love Zimbabwe very much and I truly believe in promoting local. Gain Healthcare will continue recruitment Internationally from other countries like India, Philippines etc.
From day one I have been accused of not having a sponsor license. Then it was paddled as a scam. To date we have recruited 37 employees Internationally to work for Gain Healthcare directly and we have recruited 63 nurse aide candidates for nursing homes. 22 Social workers for local authorities and 17 nurses. Through GHC and we have had a total of 139 candidates come internationally on the last 12 months.
The abuse I have received has really affected my Mental Health and most times I no longer enjoy the job I love very much.
What’s the way foward ?
- GHC will no longer be recruiting from Zimbabwe through our Sponsor license
- We will continue recruiting as an agency for our clients
- We will continue providing training that’s internationally recognised
- Those that are at immigration level with us, we will continue with the application.
Thank you very much to those that have supported us and we’re patient enough to go through the process and I am glad we managed to change so many lives.
Again thank you for believing in me and my company.
I am done
Ndabhoo”
Many Zimbabweans consoled her and highlighted that there will always be people that look down on services and that she should not stop helping genuine people because of the people that shun her. Olinda had previously posted a screenshot from an interaction between another agency and a Zimbabwean where the agency said they no longer help Zimbabweans.

There are some people that still claim that Olinda took money from many people and asked why she did that if she knew that not all applications would be processed successfully. Olinda responded to one of them saying she did not take any processing fee and to another, she said that it is not illegal for a company to accept an administration fee.
Olinda said she will continue to train Zimbabweans (at a fee) but if one wants to then go to the UK they will need to find their own means or use another agency.

]]>Some UK deportees have shared their experience while back in the country. It is safe to say most are struggling and it’s really distressing. However, Zimbabweans in the country were sure to question why such people had not thought about investing back home while they had the good UK life that they used to show on social media.
Most Zimbabweans have proved to be unforgiving towards the returnees. This is clear in the comments shared with regards to the second group of deportees that arrived yesterday.
View the sentiments shared below:

Perhaps this is a reminder to those that are outside the country to try and invest back home if they can. However, that is not to overlook what others have commented saying that Zimbabweans probably ought to be more welcoming and sympathetic to the returnees.

]]>The post Zimbabweans deported from the UK now reportedly homeless appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>It started off with an announcement that Zimbabweans with criminal records would be deported from the UK. Some had been in the UK for almost all their lives and had even started and raised families there. As a result, some British MPs signed a letter begging the government not to deport these Zimbabweans.
All was in vain when the deportations began and Zimbabwe received its first batch of UK deportees on the 22nd of July 2021.
The question now lies, how are they coping thus far?
A UK publication did a follow up on the lives of some of these deportees. Their findings are sad.
One 43 year old deportee, a father of five, was returned on the basis of a 13 month prison sentence in 2012. He says after completing his quarantine period, he has been sleeping on the floor in someone’s shed.
The father of five children who are all still in the UK had this to say:
“I had no money, no identification card, nothing. Just a pair of shoes and the clothes I was wearing. My living situation is impossible. I have relatives in the UK who are trying to find a way to send me money and help me, but everyone has also got their own problems. A few friends I still know in Zimbabwe who I ask for food. It’s so embarrassing. I’m coming from a rich country and I’m having to beg for food.”
The man did not wish to be named for fear of being sought after by authorities who will ask why he was claiming asylum when he left. However, he stated that he will return to the UK by whatever means possible so that he can be with his children.
A certain Munyaradzi Ndowa, 37, who had been in the UK since 2007 was also deported and is now in Bulawayo. Although this is the city where he grew up, he is now living on the streets because he no longer has any family or support system there.
We can expect things to be more difficult for people such as the 29-year-old, who came to the UK with his family aged nine. He stated that he won’t even know where to begin or what he’ll do since he doesn’t know anyone in Zimbabwe. In addition he doesn’t have money or know how to speak Shona or Ndebele, so he fears he might stand out like a sore thumb.

]]>Although relations with the UK have not been great, they were looking promising. This is because of the compensatory measures being taken to improve relations.
One such measure is the compensating of white farmers that were affected by the land reform program. More recently, President Mnangagwa has an impending trip to the UK that is said to be aimed at amending relations and bringing in investment.
Following the UK’s analysis of Zimbabwe as a business risk, it seems uncertain whether the trip to the UK will yield the anticipated results.

]]>Exiled businessman, Paul Westwood took to his social media to share his hopes on the impending visit to the UK by Mnangagwa. Paul Westwood is said to have suffered the injustices from the Zimbabwean government. He claimed that Hon Temba Mliswa declared ownership of his million pound business investment in 2009 and he never received compensation. Such injustices soured relations between Zimbabwe and the west.
Measures are being to taken to mend those damages. Some of these measures include compensation to white farmers. As you can imagine, black Zimbabweans have frowned upon this measure.
Paul Westwood expressed that he hopes this visit to the UK will result in talks to settle the losses he and others faced.

]]>So we can safely say that the letter send to Home Affairs minister Priti Patel by British MPs wasn’t effective. The 75 British MPs were hoping to have Priti Patel rethink her decision to deport Zimbabweans. They stated that the conditions in Zimbabweans were still unsafe for them.
However, of the 50 Zimbabweans that are said to have arrived, 14 were reportedly taken to an unknown location at 10 am today. Some have speculated that they might have been en route to a quarantine location or might have been involved in the political affairs of the country.

The woman captured above is said to have been waiting for her son who was amongst the deported. He is said to have been the breadwinner and had been in the UK for 21 years where he has left behind 3 children and a wife.

]]>Of the 8 elected Zimbabweans, 6 of them were female. This is a very rare phenomenon in our own country, to have women take more positions than men in politics. The 6 females and their respective roles are as follows:
We have covered 2 of these candidates in previous articles. One was relating to the youngest candidate on the list, Nicole Moyo. You can read that article here.
The second candidate is Maggie Chapman who insisted on representing her country of origin, Zimbabwe, by saying her oath in Shona. Watch that video here.
The male candidates, who the nation is equally proud of are:
There are many other Zimbabweans who are not in the political field who are also representing the nation well. We covered the story of a Zimbabwean teenager who was recently signed by UK League one football club, Sunderland. Read about that here.
Another noteworthy story is that of the Zimbabwean comedian who was chosen to feature on UK’s MasterChef 2021. More on that here.

This Zim-born UK politician polled 664 votes while her counterparts had 316 votes Kevin Tighe (Liberal Democrats) , Timothy Kujiyat (Labour) – 311 votes, and Samantha Godley (Green) – 113 votes.
